MATT VAUGHN INTERVIEW
Is He Really
Whiny???
The Interview with Whiny Pisces Matt
By: Samantha Vandefeller
Whiny Pisces Matt is the dude that runs the forums on
www.psychiconair.com for CBS's The
Maria Shaw Show and he is also a co-host alongside with Sexy Sag Joe and Maria
Shaw. I got the chance to figure out what makes this Pisces man tick (besides
Joe) and if he really is whiny.
Samantha Vandefeller: First of all, thank you Matt for taking time out to
do this interview for the fan club. I'd like to first get to know who the real
you is. What are some of your hobbies and interests?
Whiny Pisces Matt: I like long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners,
Joe Lawson...HA!
But seriously, I love watching and playing sports. I grew up a HUGE Detroit
Sports fan, especially the Pistons and the Tigers and, of course, University of
Michigan Football! GO BLUE! In general, I like hanging out with my friends and
family and having a nice, cold beverage in my hand! I also find that I am
usually at my best when I'm sleeping!
Samantha Vandefeller: Laughs. I heard you are a huge Carrie Underwood
fan. Is there anything you would like to say to her in case she reads this?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Ah, Carrie! I don't know if I would call it being a
fan…maybe more so an obsession laughs. If she were reading this, I would want
her to know that if she wanted to develop a relationship and maybe get married,
I AM NOT above taking her last name. Matt Underwood?!?!?!?! I think it has a
nice flow to it.
Samantha Vandefeller: Laughs. What are your other favorite musicians,
movies, and books?
Whiny Pisces Matt: I consider myself "music attention deficit". I am all
over the board with what I like: Rock, Classic Rock, Hip Hop, R&B, Motown,
Oldies, 70's. As far as movies go, nothing can touch The Godfather or Rocky
series and Swingers. Goonies was king when I was a kid! Pretty much anything
with Vince Vaughn and/or Will Ferrell I love. And for books, is anything written
by Maria Shaw acceptable???!
Samantha Vandefeller: Yes, anything written by Maria Shaw is acceptable.
She is one of my favorite authors as well. Now let's get into the love stuff.
You are finally getting a lot of females attracted to you on the show, so I know
most of them would like to know, do you have a girlfriend?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Yes, I DO have a special someone who puts up with me.
Must be the per-Diem I give her to stay with me!
Samantha Vandefeller: OK ladies, he's taken! But if you weren't, what is
your perfect woman besides Carrie?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Besides Carrie? A girl who knows when to be dependent
and independent. A girl who is confident in herself. Women have to love
themselves first. She also needs to be sensitive, caring, and loving to those
around her. A good sense of humor and good looks don't hurt either…kind of like
Maria!! *points to Maria*.
Samantha Vandefeller: Laughs. Pisces are known to be really day dreamy
and intuitive. Would you say that is right about you?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Yes. When I was in school, I would ALWAYS nod off
thinking about something I would want to do or some place I would want to be. I
don't know if it was necessarily because I was "a dreamer" or if it was because
I was bored! As far as being intuitive, I would say yes. I generally have people
"pegged" from the moment I meet them…or at least I think I do.
Samantha Vandefeller: Are you really whiny?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Ask Maria or Joe! I call it "realistically grumpy".
I'm a Pisces. Life is tough sometimes. OK all the time! Cut me some slack!
Samantha Vandefeller: Let's talk a little about your radio career and
about your friendship with Maria and Joe. First, why did you choose to work in
radio?
Whiny Pisces Matt: You know how a lot of people in radio tell how they
grew up pretending to be on the radio and from an early age they knew they
wanted to be in it? That's not me! It's basically the only thing I'm qualified
to do! Really though, like I mentioned before, I was always a huge sports fan
and in high school I realized I wanted to stay close to sports and wanted to get
into radio sports broadcasting. Pursuing that has lead me on an interesting road
in radio that has come to psychiconair.com with The Maria Shaw Show.
Samantha Vandefeller: What do you love about your job?
Whiny Pisces Matt: The fact that I don't really consider it a "job". And
it's something I enjoy doing. I get to meet a lot of interesting and cool
people, and each day is kind of like a new adventure. Plus I don't think I could
survive a regular 9-5 desk job pushing papers and being micro-managed. Not that
there is anything wrong with that, and I applaud the people who do it. I would
probably just get buried.
Samantha Vandefeller: What do you like about working with Maria and Joe?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Well, it's a plus that they both put up with me! Maria
is one of the nicest, caring people you'll ever meet! She has a real gift and
she shares it with people, which gives them insight and in some cases, peace. I
consider myself extremely lucky to be working with her. She is also a very
attractive woman (MORE POINTS!!!). Joe is just a cool guy. The ladies love him,
of course, but truthfully, everybody loves him. He is one of the most loyal
people I ever met and a damn hard worker. It's also so cool to see him go
through his metaphysical learning process. VERY ENTERTAINING!
Samantha Vandefeller: Did you believe in the metaphysical stuff before
working with Maria?
Whiny Pisces Matt: I considered myself an open-minded skeptic. I've
always believed in the paranormal, UFOs, Bigfoot etc., but as far as
metaphysical I wasn't sure. Working with Maria has not just opened my mind, its
blown open! She is the real deal and I am a believer in her abilities.
Samantha Vandefeller: You and Joe just went on a ghost hunting trip in
Grand Rapids. How was it? Do you have any funny stories to tell?
Whiny Pisces Matt: The ghost hunting was cool. I had always done it for
"something to do" with friends after the bar or when we were bored. But this was
my first "real" ghost hunt. Joe and I felt like Jason and Grant from "Ghost
Hunters"! Joe is fun to do these with, because from the moment we start, he's
all business! "Matt, I saw something!", "Matt, did you hear that?!" Then he gets
to talking about how "things don't feel right, man. I feel weird". Or "I don't
know if I can continue." He was cool and stuck it out though. He DID get a
nose-bleed however and the dowsing rods were messing with him which put him a
little at unease! Oh yeah! One other thing. I am such an idiot at times. My
stomach was growling really bad that night. When we were in the child's room
with the lights out, we needed everything quiet so we could hear any weird
sounds or voices. The only weird sound was my damn stomach!
Samantha Vandefeller: Now we are going to have to make sure Joe blogs his
point of view of the ghost hunt and see if he has any funny stories on you,
besides your stomach growling. Speaking of Joe, he challenged you to ONE
wrestling match. Winner gets Maria's undivided attention during the show. Do you
accept?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Ha! It would be such a "pillow-fight"! Yes, I accept
on one condition…we sell tickets and put it on Pay Per View and I get 90% of the
profit!!
Samantha Vandefeller: Any fighting words for Joe?
Whiny Pisces Matt: My dad can beat up your dad!!
Samantha Vandefeller: What do you love about Maria?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Everything. She is so unselfish and talented. I tell
people that they would have a hard time finding somebody as genuine as she is.
Plus she is the perfect balance for two idiots like Joe and me.
Samantha Vandefeller: Before we wrap this interview up, is there anything
you'd like to say to the listeners and fans out there?
Whiny Pisces Matt: Keep listening, because you keep me employed!!
Seriously though, I hope that you guys like what you hear and continue to listen
for many years to come. I guarantee there are big things to come that you won't
want to miss and that YOU can be apart of. And of course…GO PISCES!!!
